If you like photography and a bit of fantasy all rolled into one then you are going to love this man's work. Are you ready to be blown away because this week I am featuring the astounding and imaginative work of John Wilhelm.
John Wilhelm describes himself as a passionate image creator and photographer. He is also a caring and loving father. In fact, he mainly uses pictures of his adorable family for his work.
For instance, featured here is a picture of one of his precious daughters. As you can see, she is sleeping peacefully under an ocean water blanket. Obviously, she wasn't really under the ocean water like that. This is what makes John's work so compelling. He takes real life and adds a bit of fantasy.
John's father was an experienced hobby-photographer. Therefore, John grew up in an environment of cameras, lenses, darkrooms and weddings.
Although he grew up immersed in it, John was not very excited about photography at first. That was until he got his hands on his first digital camera.
Then in February of 2011, John entered the world of Photoshop. He says it was the best thing he ever did because this is when he discovered his gift and passion of bringing fantasy to life through his own images. I mean, just take a look at his adorable daughters scrubbing a gigantic walrus in the bath tub!
I first found John's work on Instagram. I was browsing through pictures when his photo of his little girl sleeping under the ocean caught my eye. I quickly went over to his feed and scrolled through EVERY one of his photos! I could not get enough!
Aren't they fantastic! Which one is your favorite? Hard to pick right?! Well, there's A LOT MORE to see on his feed and they are guaranteed to make you happy!
After I looked through his entire feed on Instagram, I went over to his website. What a great site! There, you can find a section called, "Making Of." I really enjoyed this section because, it was here that you got to see the behind-the-scenes of how John creates his fantasy photography. He takes normal pictures of his family and re-creates them by adding different elements - like a walrus in the tub.
I love coming across amazing and unique artists like this. It opens up my mind to new heights and possibilities with my own art and it just makes me happy. So, thanks for stopping by today to learn about another talented and gifted artist and join me next week for another Talented Tuesday.
